Icehouse @ Homebake, The Domain, Sydney, December 3, 2011

Homebake-The Classic Edition 2011 had a lot of live music highlights. It would be too many for an entire blog. My main highlight was legendary group Icehouse. They were invited to relive the set concentrating what turned out to be their self-titled debut album. This album had an Australian release in late 1980 then in mid 1981 had an international release. The 30th anniversary edition was released in May 2011. Iva Davies has being the mainstay of Icehouse since 1977. When this landmark album was released, I was 13 & it was played a hell of a lot on the FM dial. On December 3, 2011 on a late Saturday afternoon attracting audiences of people from the various age groups. “Can’t Help Myself”, “We Can Get Together” & “Walls” were successful singles that still got a very strong positive reaction. Within the time of this set, it was great to turn the music clock back by a few decades. It was a good time by all at the Big Top Stage. One of the most memorable sets I have ever seen at any of the Homebakes.

Pete’s Blog on Music Appreciation

Hello this is my first blog on music. I find a lot of people want to get into a music scene without evening hearing much of any music in the first place. These days I listen to various kinds of music I am proud of it. This is the reason I enjoy listening to music. I listen to music for the music. It is very important before you judge an artist of their music. It is very important that you have listened to a song or a collection of songs. At least, you will know what you are talking about. I have known people saying bad things about a song or an album without hearing the source of the criticism. This is not a good ground for criticising that particular act’s work. To listen first before making any judgements is really the essence of judging music. To really appreciate music, do your research and you will go far.
